Sadness x 2

...and the October open roda has come and gone. A handful of Chicago people, and no one from the Madison group. It's odd, because I was told that this roda was basically for boosting Milwaukee-Madison relations. I'm sad now, because it's been so long I can barely remember the names of the Madison people. What's-her-face, That Guy, Ridiculously-hot-person, Breadman, and even Cartoon-alien-guy. Oh yeah, and that girl who wanted me to set her on fire just to see if I really did keep the equipment in my car. She was pretty cool, at least for a person I've only talked to for 15 minutes.

Maybe they're mad at me?

I'm also sad because it doubled up as a goodbye roda for Jacob. He was our resident samba guy and a pretty good low-level instructor. He's joining the group in Chicago, so now I've got yet one more reason to visit that place.

Well, this is minorly embarrassing

This might be a really stupid question to ask, but... Would it be alright to sit in on one of your capoeira times? Not really do anything, just watch?
I've slowly been getting more and more interested because of you and Lex.

Open Roda? I didn't know of it. I honestly don't know if I could have made it, but without knowledge I surely couldn't.

Re: Well, this is minorly embarrassing

Yeah, I'm not sure what the exact problem was, but I doubt it got farther than Carlos if no one from the group came. In all likelihood, the Milwaukee people either didn't get word out officially or perhaps were in contact with another Madison group.

Still, I'm missing you guys like crazy. We are past due for a roda together, after all! I'm still hoping someone gives me the go-ahead for Halloween, and your November open roda wouldn't be a bad time to come up either. We'll see, I guess...

Re: Well, this is minorly embarrassing

That is totally NOT a stupid question! DON'T BE EMBARRASSED! STOP IT!

Seriously, that's a common request. Due to a series of injuries & moves, my group's a little short on instructors and therefore short on intense & educational classes. These days we're mostly doing more mundane workouts to stay fit and teaching beginners the basics; it's the best use of our time as we don't have anyone qualified for more advanced instruction.

So, the best time for you to come by & observe would be an open roda - a sort of sparring session. I'll ask around and see when the next Milwaukee one is. It likely won't be for at least a month and my group's a bit unreliable right now, so let's call that Plan B. Plan A would be in Madison. Lex's group apparently has one every third Saturday of the month. If I've got my facts straight, then November 20th would be golden opprotunity to pay a visit.

Re: Well, this is minorly embarrassing

Okay. November 20th then.
That's actually after my birthday, as well. So any limits I may have had due to being under a certain booze drinking age shall be gone/

I need to actually call you sometime soon-ish. >.>

Things! I have been meaning to write you forever and ever, but... yeah, me and planning stuff. ANYWAY. You know the thing I did last Halloween where a bunch of us got together and visited haunted places? Well, we're doing it again this year, only it'll be on the day BEFORE Halloween and we'll have more people. I asked Laura yesterday (she's organizing this whole thing) and she said I could invite you.
Hey Justin, do you want to go on a haunted places tour the day before Halloween?

I don't know what I'm doing on Halloween proper. Do you know what you're doing? Do you want to do or not do something together?

Capoeira is still making me consistently sad. It's like I thing I used to do instead of a thing I do. One hour classes feel like a sad warm-up. :-/ Gotta find a way to fix that. Play with me sometime? Show me this mini-macaco thing?

I'm really curious about who these Madison people are. I'm guessing I'm What's-her-face, but... cartoon-alien-guy? We have one of those? And I've got a few guesses for ridiculously-hot-person, but I'd like to know if I'm right.

A redcap appeared in my head last night and threatened to eat me if I didn't play her sometime. So. Uh. I might not be a troll next year at GenCon. Depends. I still wanna hear your troll voice!

JUSTIN I MISS YOU BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Filtering this through my brain, that last part read:
"a redcap popped into my head and told me to play ridiculously-hot-person at capoeira. Therefore, I can't play a troll at GenCon."

Sure, I can come up on Saturday for haunted house stuff. We'll squeeze a few minutes of capoeira in where we can. I am also sad about the state of capoeira these days. Grr... Playing my rhythm stick is the only thing I'm actually improving on, and I've totally lost my ability to even attempt back handsprings. Blah.

I will come up with two and a half kithbooks plus the Ireland sourcebook as well. Also, if you do play a redcap at GenCon, I'll do whatever it takes to have my troll be your squire. It will be crazy and silly and counter-intuitive!
